Project remarkable book Van Marcke
A remarkable story told by a remarkable book
Generation after generation, the Van Marcke family business has grown to become the market leader in the distribution of sanitary and heating in Belgium. To mark their 90th anniversary, they celebrated with a grand birthday party and their very own book. INNI GROUP was invited to take care of the printing. The result? An impressive 200-page piece of high-quality printing.
It would be more than fair to describe this book as a true showstopper. Before rolling off the presses here at INNI, the book took two years of preparation—and it shows. Whether it is in the three-millimetre-thick hardcover, wrapped in a printed linen finish, or in the copy that puts the Van Marcke story into words, quality is key here.
At Van Marcke, not only did they aim for a striking work of reference, they also wanted to ensure their book maintained a low ecological footprint. That is why they opted for a cardboard cover, though we added a special touch in the design. Part of the cover is imprinted with a colour gradient that represents the transition from one generation to the next. The shade of blue at the top refers to the past. Gradually the colour changes to yellow: a reference to the future.
Of course, Van Marcke’s logo was not to be left out. The iconic seahorse even graces the cover twice. The spine of the book features it in white matte foil print, while the front carries the logo in transparent foil print. This way, the little seahorse can shine in all its glory. And it does a fine job doing so!
