Peking to Paris

A grand adventure in a grand book.

Peking to Paris

Intro

A coffee-table book that will transport you to another world.

In 2019, INNI group had the honour of printing the book Peking to Paris – The Ultimate Motoring Challenge for the first time. It became a huge success worldwide. In 2024, we had the privilege of collaborating on this unique project once again.

A coffee-table book usually looks pretty good, but this one goes beyond that. It brings together 57 personal stories from various participants in the rally. It has become a diary filled with wonderful accounts and sensational pictures. Each rally driver experienced the adventure in a different way, which is precisely why different versions of the book were created. We gave each of the participants the opportunity to have their own car printed on the cover. The result? 71 versions of the dust jacket, 11 versions of the cover, and 4 versions of the interior were produced. All hand-numbered!

A collector’s item

The book is richly illustrated with more than 700 breathtaking photos by renowned action photographers. It has become a valuable collector’s item for every fan of historic rallies.

Peking to Paris – The Ultimate Motor Challenge 2024

The book chronicles the eighth edition of the legendary rally, held 117 years after the very first race of 1907. Over the course of 37 gruelling days, the convoy covers a distance of 14,700 kilometres, from Peking to Paris, crossing nine countries and six time zones.

The rally is unique in the automotive world and is known worldwide as the longest and toughest endurance rally for vintage and classic cars. It is impressive and spectacular to see the wide variety of authentic classic cars—ranging in age from 50 to 105 years old—racing against the clock. With teams from all around the world, self-supporting and without technical assistance. The route winds through arid steppes, dry deserts, rugged mountains, and inhospitable forest passes. All with only one goal in mind: to reach the ultimate destination, Paris.

About the author

Patrick Debusseré’s passion for classic cars began 42 years ago with his first car, a 1942 Willys Jeep. His fascination with the Peking to Paris rally began in 1997, when a similar Jeep won the first tribute edition of the legendary 1907 rally. In 2019, he drove the seventh edition of the rally in his restored 1933 Dodge Roadster, “Polly.” The journey brought him to Paris safe and sound and it earned him the Spirit of the Rally Award. Inspired by his experience and his collection of Peking to Paris books, he published Peking to Paris 2019 – The Ultimate Motoring Challenge. The book was a huge success, leading to this latest work on the 2024 edition of the rally.
